IMSE

IMSE — Development of an integrated monitoring system for the elderly

The IMSE project focused on developing an integrated monitoring solution for older people living independently at home. The project researched normal behaviour patterns and deviations, selected appropriate IoT technologies, developed hardware and software components, a web platform, communication and data-analysis capabilities, and an electronic medication dispenser. The goal was to support safer, healthier, and longer independent living through active and assisted living technologies.

The project researches the usual behaviour patterns of elderly people living alone, defines deviations from those patterns, selects suitable IoT technology for the intended solution and, on that basis, develops an integrated monitoring system for the elderly.

The project delivers an innovative active and assisted living (AAL) solution — the IMSE integrated monitoring system for the elderly — which gives the monitored persons more opportunities to extend independent, safe and healthy living in their own home.

A central unit processes the sensor data on the residents’ lifestyle and habits at home and then, according to predefined rules and through purpose-built software, reports the resident’s status to a preset recipient (the carer) on a GSM device. An alarm button worn as a pendant offers help in unwanted situations (injury, fear, the monitored person gets lost, and so on): pressing it establishes a call to a chosen person (a doctor, a carer, a family member, etc.).

The main project activities are:

  • research into the residents’ usual behaviour patterns and identification of criteria for unusual behaviour,
  • research, testing and selection of suitable IoT technologies for the system, and adaptation of IoT protocols,
  • design and development of the hardware, and production and testing of a prototype,
  • development of the platform and software for communication, data analysis and message forwarding,
  • development of a web platform for accessing the data,
  • development of an electronic medication dispenser,
  • testing of the complete system.

The total estimated value of the project is EUR 2,300,365.84, of which EUR 135,164.61 is co-financing. The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (www.eu-skladi.si).

WTCE

World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo

Dotcom’s participation at WTCE was selected for co-financing under the public call supporting individual appearances of companies at international trade fairs abroad in the 2019–2022 period.

Funding: Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

Industrial Spyder

An integral solution for production optimisation: Industrial Spyder

The aim of the project is to develop an integral production monitoring system which — through solutions based on advanced sensors, blockchain technology and analytics using artificial intelligence methods — collects, analyses and processes industrial data and connects the three main factors of any production line in real time: the human – the machine – the tool.

Total cost of the operation: EUR 5,790,215.25; co-financing: EUR 2,327,671.70.

The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (www.eu-skladi.si).

SmartLogFresh

Sustainable optimisation of logistics management for fresh fruit and vegetables (SmartLogFresh)

The purpose of the project is to develop a sustainable logistics management platform for fresh fruit and vegetables (SmartLogiFresh) that addresses this area of logistics comprehensively and with the support of advanced technologies. Using machine learning, the system predicts shelf life, the critical points for maintaining suitable conditions, customer demand, and proposes a suitable transport vehicle.

The system collects, analyses and manages data on temperature, humidity, light and location, thereby maintaining ideal storage and transport conditions through alerts and recommendations on how a given consignment should be stored. Because continuous monitoring of the conditions around fresh produce matters, data is captured in warehouses, transport boxes and vehicles.

SmartLogiFresh sustainably optimises the management of transport, storage and other logistics processes, substantially reduces the share of fruit and vegetables discarded during transport and distribution, and makes quality assurance under HACCP, IPS and other standards easier.

The operation was selected for co-financing under the public call "Incentives for research and development projects NOO" (JR RRI NOO).

The investment is part of the recovery and resilience plan and is financed by the European Union from the Recovery and Resilience Facility – NextGenerationEU.
